Agro perlite Agro perlite — perlite for plants, roots growing in perlite
What it is

What is agro perlite?

Agro perlite is expanded perlite adapted for agriculture and horticulture. A mineral of natural volcanic origin that, when heated to high temperatures, expands into lightweight, porous granules. Thanks to this structure, agro perlite is widely used as a growing medium component.

Mixed with peat, coco coir or other substrates, agro perlite improves the medium's structure, reduces compaction and ensures better air and moisture access to the root zone. This is especially important in intensive cultivation, where the root system directly determines growth and yield.

Agro perlite is chemically neutral, sterile, does not rot or decompose, so it retains its properties for a long time. As an expanded perlite manufacturer and supplier in Lithuania, we deliver wholesale — in different fractions according to the growing method and customer needs.

Neutral (~7) — safe for all plant species.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions about agro perlite

Short answers to the most common questions about using perlite for plants.

What is agro perlite used for?
Agro perlite is used as a growing medium component — it improves soil aeration, helps maintain moisture balance and promotes stronger root formation. Widely used in substrates, greenhouses, nurseries, hydroponics and floriculture.
How much agro perlite to add to a substrate?
Typically agro perlite makes up 10–30% of the substrate volume, depending on the plant and purpose. For germination — less (10–20%); for plants requiring good drainage or hydroponics — more (up to 30–50%).
Is agro perlite suitable for hydroponics?
Yes. The coarser fraction (2–6 mm) is ideal for hydroponic systems — it is inert, sterile, pH-neutral and ensures good aeration and drainage for the roots.
Does perlite harm plants?
No. Perlite is chemically neutral, inert and sterile — it does not change the medium's pH, does not rot and does not create an environment for diseases. It is one of the safest growing media.
Do you supply agro perlite wholesale?
Yes. We are an expanded perlite manufacturer and supplier in Lithuania and deliver wholesale — from smaller batches to large volumes, in various fractions and packaging. For a quote contact sales@perlit.lt or +370 611 44237.
